World of Outlaws Drivers Dominate At Parramatta

donny-schatz2009 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion Donny Schatz won the Scott Darley $50,000 to win presented by Coca-Cola at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway in Sydney, Australia today.

Schatz’s fellow World of Outlaws competitors Tim Shaffer and Australian-born Brooke Tatnell finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

“We did our jobs right today. We spent a little bit of time with the race car changing a few things and I can’t say enough about these guys in the team for their hard work and dedication,” Schatz said after starting the event in 8th place.

brooke-tatnellSchatz’s teammate, NASCAR driver Tony Stewart, did not fair quite as well in the event. After running in the top-three during the first part of the event, he was sidelined by a flat right rear tire. He ended up 19th.

“We got better every night, so that was the biggest thing for me.  It was nice to actually run the same track four nights in a row versus a race here and race there in a sprintcar,” Stewart said of the four-race stint at Parramatta. “I’ve had a great time and I’m already trying to work on coming back next year.”

The $50,000 from today’s purse combined with Schatz’s previous winnings from the Parramatta events for a whopping total of $400,000.
