What are the World of Outlaws drivers up to during their off season? They are known to travel around the world and keep their racing skills fresh, or just to win some more money and show who the best drivers are!HardCoreRaceFans.com wants to bring you the latest on the World of Outlaws and nothing is better than some action from down under. The famous World of Outlaws drivers have been in Australia lately tearing it up and racing amongst the best in the outback representing the good ole’ U.S.A.
The four-time and most current World of Outlaws champion Donny Schatz had a sweet Saturday night before heading back to the states by winning a $20,000 feature race at Brisbane International Speedway. Racing with the World Series Sprintcars he started on the pole by way of having the most points from a preliminary program that took place on Friday night. Schatz led all 50 laps to take a win over Brooke Tatnell and Garry Brazier. Jason Sides who also competed, finished 13th. This is the third straight year that Donny Schatz has won the two-day event at Brisbane and his overall 11th career win with the World Series.
In Hobart, Tasmania, a battle brewed for a 30-lap feature between the U.S.A. and the Tasmania Sprintcar Challenge at the Mountain Dew Ice Raceway. The three American drivers that participated were Craig Dollansky, Lucas Wolfe, and the veteran Paul McMahan. Sets of heat races set up the main feature consisting of a different but a one of a kind format this year. Each heat race consisted of three American drivers and three Tasmanian drivers with points being earned in each heat race. In the feature race the Americans took the rear of the grid and came up short of a victory. Dollansky ended up in fifth and Wolfe finished sixth. These two will compete this coming weekend in another all out brawl at Bendigo Bank Arena in Latrobe.
On Sunday Jason Sides competed in a World Series Sprintcars race in Toowoomba at Charlton Raceway. Jason Sides from Bartlett, Tennessee, was smoking fast in time trails giving him the second quickest time of the day. While finishing fifth in points in the World of Outlaws for 2009, he ended up taking home sixth on Sunday and is looking forward to the next race. MORE NASCAR NEWS
