Kevin Swindell, the 20-year old son of veteran driver and five-time Chili Bowl champion Sammy Swindell, got the win in the second night of competition at the 24th Annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals at the Quik Trip Center’s Tulsa Expo Raceway.
Swindell took the lead from Cole Whitt early in the event and held on to it until the checkered flag flew despite numerous cautions throughout the event. “Every time we got to traffic and I would of had to start moving around, the yellow came out,” Swindell said. “Everything kinda worked out and I managed to limit the mistakes on the cushion.”
18-year old Whitt earned the pole for the event after winning both his heat and qualifying races and held on to finish 2nd. Brad Kuhn, who started the event in 10th place, beat Tim McCreadie for the final lock-in position for the 50-lap feature scheduled for Saturday. Kasey Kahne Racing driver Brad Sweet rounded out the top-5. Tonight, the Chili Bowl action resumes with the Bully Dog Qualifier scheduled to begin at 6 pm local time. MORE WORLD OF OUTLAWS NEWS
