cory-kruseman“The Kruser” Cory Kruseman won last night’s 25-lap E3 Spark Plugs Qualifying main event at the 24th Annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals.

Kruseman has missed qualifying for the past three Chili Bowls but fielded his own car to compete this year.

“Like I’ve said for all the years we’ve been coming here, you can buy the best cars, you can have the best driver, you can have the best crew chief, you can have the best parts, but if you don’t have luck then nothing else matters.  And that’s what showed tonight,” he said.

jj-yeleyJerry Coons Jr. finished 2nd followed by Danny Stratton in 3rd and Chris Windom in 4th. Chad Boat rounded out the top-5.

Former NASCAR driver J.J. Yeley started the event after being cleared by doctors to run after an ankle injury. He got behind the wheel of a vacant seat for Keith Kunz Motorsports and finished 20th after a problem late in the race.
