Racing 2 Cure, R2C, and its founder 10-year old off-road racer Hunter Stewart will make its public debut at the 69th Annual Bike Weeks in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Beginning this Friday, February 26th through March 7th, the non-profit organization will have its display on Beach Street near the Harley Davidson Corporate area. The display will provide t-shirts and other items for donations as well as allowing visitors to enter their “Helmets for HELP” raffle and giving them the opportunity to beat young Stewart’s score in a simulator for prizes.
The organization was created by the 10-year old after his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 34, just weeks before his first ever race. "When I was going through Chemo Therapy treatments I was absent from the home mentally and physically. My kids were basically without a mother," Alycia Stewart, Hunter’s mom, said. "We had family and friends to help out with the little things like doing laundry, making meals, and providing the kids help with schoolwork. But I've met other people going through Cancer that are not as fortunate. They don't have anyone to help. Research is of course important. We hope that one day we won't be needed. But until then we want to help ease the tremendous burden that Cancer brings to a home." Racing 2 Cure, in partnership with the Susan G. Komen foundation, helps with funds for meals, tutors for children, transportation, house cleaning and general support for families being affected by cancer. MORE NASCAR NEWS
