Legendary World of Outlaws competitor Steve Kinser always looks forward to racing at the Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, Texas, a track where he has finished in the top-10 in each of his 14 starts at the high-banked 1/4 mile facility. Among his 14 consecutive top-10's at HRP are 11 top-fives, resulting in an average finish of 3.6 at the fast Texas track.
"I do enjoy running that race track and we've always had success there," said Kinser. "I'm looking forward to going back there this year. It is a short track, but it doesn't race like a choppy short track. It's a track that is nice and smooth and we got around there pretty well. It's a nice facility as well and a nice race track." Kinser garnered instant success at Houston Raceway Park, winning the first World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series A-Main Feature held there in 2000.
"It certainly is a nice facility," Kinser said of Houston Raceway Park. "It's somewhere where you don't have to scramble to watch race cars out on the track, you are able to see the track pretty good without doing a lot of walking, so that makes it convenient." A special place that Kinser will always remember, Houston Raceway Park is the site of his 500th World of Outlaws victory in 2004. "It does mean a lot," said Kinser of his 500th win. "For a lot of year we raced feature and preliminary features and they were really the same thing. So that win was more than 500 really, but it's a special one still." The Hall of Famer will be looking to visit Victory Lane at Houston Raceway Park again tonight in the Texas Two-Step Weekend finale. MORE WORLD OF OUTLAWS NEWS
