sammy-swindellSammy Swindell and Steve Kinser staged a classic battle Thursday night at Huset's Speedway in Brandon, South Dakota, bringing back memories of days gone by for many hardcore race fans.

Swindell passed Lucas Wolfe for the lead on lap 30 of the 35-lap World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series A-main with Kinser in hot pursuit. Kinser made a move on Swindell coming to the white flag on lap 34, holding the lead down the front stretch. Swindell retook control of the race lead in turn one, working traffic on the final lap to record win number 270 of his WoO career.

“I’m just happy to get another win,” said Swindell. “We’ve been close there for quite a few of them. We just needed the breaks to go our way and tonight they did. I just had to get in the right place at the right time. We definitely had a bit more speed at the end.”

Kinser crossed the line second, Lucas Wolfe, who led the first 29 laps, finished third, followed by Jason Meyers and Craig Dollansky.

Points leader Joey Saldana finished 12th and leaves South Dakota with a 10-point cushion over Steve Kinser in the 2010 championship battle.

The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series move to Brainerd, Minnesota for Saturday night's event at North Central Speedway.
