20-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion Steve Kinser claimed a record seventh Kings Royal victory Saturday night at the famed Eldora Speedway, parking his Tony Stewart Racing machine in Victory Lane at the track owned by the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver.
“It feels good to win one for Tony Stewart Racing and Bass Pro Shops,” said Kinser. “I know that Donny (Schatz) has won a few for them. It was a lot of fun to get out there and win it tonight. Kerry (Madsen) ran a great race and I hated to get into him on the last night, but you have to go for it when you can go for it. I just really enjoy getting to run at Eldora.”
Kerry Madsen commanded the race for 27 laps on his way to a second-place finish, his best career result in the Kings Royal. “I’m just disappointed,” Madsen admitted. “The car was unreal, how good it was. Sonny Kratzer just gave me a dream car tonight. We were pretty close to getting a Kings Royal win and we just didn’t get that last restart right and Steve (Kinser) got in front of me. We had a quicker car, but two laps wasn’t enough to get back by him. We’ll have to deal with second here tonight, but I am very proud of this team.” Danny Lasoski, Donny Schatz and Greg Wilson completed the top-five. NASCAR drivers Kasey Kahne and Dave Blaney competed in Saturday night's Kings Royal. Kahne finished 15th and Blaney 24th. The 2010 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series schedule continues at Lernerville Speedway in Pennsylvania with the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Twin 30’s scheduled for Tuesday, July 20.
