Written by Zach Davis

donny-schatzDefending World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion Donny Schatz claimed the rain delayed Six Nation Showdown finale at Ohsweken Speedway Sunday night, leading all 30 laps from the pole in the Tony Stewart Racing Armor All/STP J&J No. 15 to dominate en route to his first victory at the Canadian track.

“It feels good to be back in Victory Lane,” said Schatz. “I guess if you keep knocking on the door long enough somebody is going to let you in. It’s kind of how I feel right now. We had an awesome car and we’ve always been pretty good here. We learned something in the dash tonight about this place and about our car in general and were really excited about that. It didn’t feel the greatest in the car inside, but it would turn under guys and it’s great to have that. We’re pretty pumped.”

Current point leader Joey Saldana finish second in the Kasey Kahne Racing Maxim.

“It was a great effort,” said Saldana. “We didn’t quite have enough for Donny (Schatz) at the end. We had a very good car and worked hard on the car both nights and had solid results. I’ll take it go on to Fulton (Speedway). We just have to keep running strong.”

Steve Kinser, Paul McMahan and Jason Meyers rounded out the top-five.

Saldana leads Steve Kinser by 30 points in the 2010 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship point standings.

The 2010 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series scheduled continues Tuesday, August 3 at Fulton Speedway in New York.
