Joey Saldana and Steve Kinser battled to the finish line Friday night at Nodak Speedway in North Dakota, with Saldana winning the Gerdau Ameristeel Magic City Showdown Presented by Sleep Inn & Suites opener by 0.018 seconds, the closest World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series A-Main Feature of the 2010 season.

“That was amazing,” said Saldana. “I wasn’t getting through those lapped cars too good and didn’t want to change anything up and he almost beat me. I thought I had just lost the race. He was sliding across there and there was no grip across the middle and I just got lucky and got back underneath him and got the win. That was crazy with all the yellows and the double file restarts. It definitely makes it nerve wracking for a driver.”

Friday night's win is Saldana's 11th victory this season, his 70th career Outlaws victory, tying him with Dave Blaney for seventh on the Outlaws all-time win list.

Kinser finished second after starting 13th in the 35-lap A-Main.

“I got to really going good before that one yellow,” said Kinser. “I was picking them off on the bottom and then my tires sealed over a little bit and I could never get them back under me. It started laying a little rubber at the end and I had a shot at it.”

Jac Haudenschild finished third, followed by Jason Sides and Chad Kemenah.

Saldana currently leads Steve Kinser by 13 points in the 2010 World of Outlaws championship standings.

The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series return to Nodak Speedway Saturday night, August 21, 2010 for the Magic City Showdown finale.
