Jason Meyers took the lead from Steve Kinser on lap 16 of the 35-lap opener of the Oil City Cup at Castrol Raceway in Canada Friday night to score his ninth World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series A-Main Feature of the 2010 season.

“These guys did a heck of a job tonight,” said Meyers. “We had a great race car. We got the lead early and the yellow came out and they put me back behind him. You don’t get too many chances with ‘The King’ (Steve Kinser). This is incredible. This is a great race track and they had a great crowd. That was good racing right there. This was a complete team effort and that’s what a good team does, it wins races.”

Meyers started sixth in the A-Main after setting fast time and was challenging Kerry Madsen for second in short order. Meyers passed race leader Kinser off turn four just before halfway and held on to win his 44th career World of Outlaws A-Main.

Kinser, currently second in the 2010 championship standings, spun just after losing the lead to Meyers, collecting point leader Joey Saldana. Kinser was able to make repairs and return to the track while Saldana was done for the night. Meyers made a gain of 43 points in the championship battle with Friday night's victory.

Kerry Madsen finished second, followed by Donny Schatz, Jason Sides and Paul McMahan.

The finale of the Oil City Cup at Castrol Raceway is on tap for Saturday night at the 3/8-mile Canadian facility.
