Jac Haudenschild took the checkereds Friday night in the opener of the two-day World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series event at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Washington.

“I’m glad to win an Outlaws race here at Skagit,” said Haudenschild. “Steve Beitler had the track beautiful tonight. It was great to race on and our car was going good. The crew did a great job giving me a fast car tonight. It was a fun race up there with Tim (Kaeding).”

The "Wild Child" battled with Tim Kaeding throughout the 30-lapper, the two veterans exchanging the lead several times on the high-banked 3/10 track. Kaeding crossed the finish line second but was credited with 24th under World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series rules after losing a muffler on the final lap.

“The car was good all night,” added Haudenschild. “You couldn’t ask for a better car than that. We were good in traffic and in open track. It was a pleasure to drive, that’s for sure.”

Jason Sides finished second aboard the Wetherington Tractor Service Maxim after restarting fourth on the final restart with five laps to go. Sides got by Steve Kinser for third and grabbed second exiting turn four on the last lap.

“We really didn’t need that caution,” shared Sides. “We were going pretty good and I think we had something for them in traffic. In open track they kind of got away from us a little bit. Tim (Kaeding) hurt a motor there at the end and we got around him on the last corner of the last lap. All in all it was a good night for us.”

Donny Schatz came from the ninth starting position to take third.

“We had a good car at the end and I’m looking forward to 40 laps tomorrow night,” said Schatz. “This place is tricky and I’m glad to get a Top-Three. The car was real tight at the beginning and was a lot freer at the end. It was fun and I was able to gain some points on guys I needed to gain on, so we’ll keep going.”

Steve Kinser, Schatz's Tony Stewart Racing teammate, finished fourth, with Wednesday night winner Danny Lasoski completing the top-five.

Kinser gained in the battle for the championship and now trails leader Joey Saldana by 10 in the 2010 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series point standinigs. Jason Meyers is third, 23 points behind Saldana.

The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series returns to Skagit Speedway on Saturday, September 4, 2010 for the weekend finale, a 40-lap A-Main feature paying $20,000 to the winner. The first 1,000 hardcore race fans through the gate will receive a free STP hat. Grandstand gates open at 5 pm local time.
