Tony Stewart Racing teammates Steve Kinser and Donny Schatz finished first and second in Saturday night's World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series A-Main at Minnesota's Deer Creek Speedway. Kinser led the 35-lap distance to record his ninth win of the 2011 season.
“Tonight our car felt absolutely great,” said Kinser. “We had a tricky restart last night and I goofed on it. The track was really good tonight. It laid a little rubber on the high side of turn four so I had to move down a bit. We had an opportunity to gain some points on Jason (Meyers) and we ended up losing a few. From here on it, we’re going for wins and trying to close out this thing strong. Everything else will have to fall where it does but if we can continue to win races than there’s nothing more we can do.”
Schatz, who started from the pole, held off Brad Sweet and Kerry Madsen to claim second.
“Tonight was another good finish for our team,” said Schatz. “Wished we could’ve won last night but that’s just how it goes. We had a great car tonight, we’ve been changing some things and getting better. We’re glad to be back in the Midwest and getting closer to the end of the season.”
Madsen won the battle for third with Craig Dollansky fourth and Sweet fifth. Defending Outlaws champion and current point leader Jason Meyers was sixth.
The starts and cars of the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series invade Harford Speedway in Michigan on Wednesday, September 21st before making stops at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on Friday, September 23rd and Lernerville Speedway on Saturday, September 24th.
